[Guide] Finding/becoming a good mentor

[Guide] Finding/becoming a good mentor

Hello,

After seeing people complaining about their inactive or lazy mentor I decided to write a guide on how to find a good mentor.

One BIG mistake people make is looking at the BP of a person, many people think because someone has 400+ BP he will be a good mentor. You are WRONG in this.

Why? I know a few 400+ BP players who are only 11-13 years old and very immature, if you don't agree with them or ask to many questions they already start to flame.

You should aim as a new player for someone with average pot and reasonable level (70-100) because high levels are usually (especially the immature ones) busy composing and things like that so they don't got "time" to teach you the game. Lower level players know how it is as a new player at that moment so they are a much better help.

The second big mistake MANY players (as mentor) make is that they think if they find a level 70 apprentice who is immature and impatient but a good exper is a better apprentice then someone who is just new and grows slower (and so gives less free exp and reborns at the start).

I have had hundreds of apprentices and I only have a few left, those few became my apprentice as level 1, now they are 110+ with a nice average pot and they became my best friends, they gave me in the end more exp/reborns then those level 70+ that want a BP bonus only.

Being a mentor is not only being there for the BP bonus but also for being there as a first friend.

Finding a good mentor

What is a good mentor?
This is a matter of opinions, some people want a pot bonus only and some people want a mentor who teaches them the game and helps them with any questions. If you are one of the last you can continue to read this guide.

Becoming a good mentor.

As I wrote above many people, especially new people want a mentor who teaches them the game and answers all your questions.

If you become mentor of a new player always be nice, stay polite and don't laugh at him/her, no matter how stupid the question can be.

Always try answer the questions he/she asks in a nice and understandable way, do not use to many game terms because they don't know these often to.

Usually new players see their mentor as their first friend because you are helping them, remember this and don't see that person as an apprentice but as a friend and treat him like one.

If you happen to find a beggar as apprentice (who hopefully speaks clear english) you can explain him that begging won't make him/her strong and you can teach him/her a few money making tricks like boss hunting or exp balling.

Many apprentices ask to be powerleveled at the start, usually these people already played before and if don't got time at that moment and tell them "no" and they don't accept it you are better off without them because they only want you for the exp then. (I usually explain how to level up effectively to new players and they appreciate that alot.)

If an apprentice decides to find a new mentor don't get mad, if you taught him/her everything and then ditches you it means that person is unloyal, as apprentice and friend so you are better off without that person. Do not spend time on flaming at him/her.

Many people want a BP bonus only, those people are usually rude people who dont even want to become friends or anything (from my experience) and even tho they are good free exp/reborns I don't accept them as apprentice since I don't like that kind of people.

Well I hope this helped new people on finding a better mentor then those inactive people who leech exp only.
